Culver City has a strong renovation market right now, and a lot of the skylight work we do here is driven by homeowners doing full kitchen and bathroom remodels on older bungalows and ranches. These houses were built in an era when natural light in kitchens was not a design priority, standard layout was a galley kitchen against an interior wall with no windows. The remodel creates the opportunity to add light, and a skylight is usually the right answer because there is no exterior wall to put a window in.

The flat and low-slope roofs on mid-century Culver City construction require proper curb installation and membrane integration. The failure point on these roofs is consistently the curb-to-membrane connection, if the curb is not built correctly and integrated with the roofing membrane properly at the base, it will leak. We build curbs to spec on every flat roof installation. It is not a place to cut corners.

Culver City operates its own building department. Permits for standard residential installations are processed efficiently, typically over-the-counter or within a few days. Plan check is required when structural work is involved. Fees run $150–$300. We handle the permit and inspection process.
