Training and Background
We were trained at Velux’s manufacturing facility in Sparks, Nevada. That training covered installation to factory specification across the full Velux product line, fixed units, solar venting, curb-mount, deck-mount, flat roof applications, and the flashing systems that determine whether any of it holds up long-term.
We are no longer part of Velux’s dealer program. We operate as an independent contractor. The training lineage is what matters, we install Velux skylights the way Velux taught us to, and we apply the same installation standards to every other brand we work with.
We’ve been doing skylight-specific work in Los Angeles for over 20 years. In that time we’ve installed on clay tile, concrete tile, composition shingle, TPO, EPDM, built-up roofing, and custom systems. We’ve seen every failure mode the LA climate produces, UV degradation, thermal movement, failed step flashing, improper curb construction, and the chronic sealant-over-flashing shortcuts that become recurring leaks three years later.
How We Work
We quote honestly. If a repair will solve your problem, we say repair. If the unit needs to come out, we explain why and what replacement involves. We don’t push replacement on skylights that can be fixed, and we don’t recommend repairs that will keep failing.
We handle the full installation scope: structural framing, unit installation, exterior flashing and waterproofing, and interior rough-in. Interior drywall finishing, tape, texture, paint, is coordinated with a finish contractor afterward.
We pull permits when required and are familiar with the building departments at LADBS, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. Permit requirements vary by jurisdiction and by whether a new opening is being created or an existing unit is being replaced in the same location. We’ll tell you what applies to your project before work begins.
Licensing and Insurance
We are licensed by the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. We’re happy to provide a certificate of insurance before any job. If your HOA or property manager requires proof of coverage, just ask.
What We Install
We install Velux, CrystaLite, Solar Industries, Kingspan Light + Air, Lane-Aire, and Acra Light Solar. We’re not captive to any one brand. Our recommendation is always based on what’s right for your roof, your budget, and your project. Two identical skylights can perform completely differently depending on how they’re installed, which is why we focus on the installation details more than the brand name on the box.
